Well if you think about the beast master is the desperate one. His people are starving because they cannot trade with the central plains (although it does make me wonder if there's no other countries on their other borders? is it just wild lands?). The problem is they stopped trading because they consider the central plains people traitors and honorless for having ignored their plight in the past, refusing to offer aid because they weren't directly affected (not until later). Basically whoever set up that policy (I imagine it was the previous beastmasters) was trying to stick it to the central plains by refusing to be of any benefit to them whatsoever until they proved they were worthy of it. To go back on that would shame the whole country and make it look like they were begging for help again and make the central plains look good for "saving them" which these proud people would hate. But if they go through Mount Hua, who did help them in the past, then it's them repaying an old and honorable debt, since the trade will benefit the fallen Mount Hua greatly too. A debt that the central plains owe to Mount Hua too, but is never acknowledged by any of them, meaning it's also a way to tell anyone in the know that the Beast kingdom has more honor than all the sects and powers of the central plains that refused to lend a hand to the sect that saved them all from destruction.
