We're building to a climax of course there's a lull before the fireworks show. If things were constantly happening the impact would be lost and the pacing would seem off...Honestly a lot of stories could learn from this because having drama after drama after drama makes either the story or the characters seem weak and off-putting. Like when there's someone hurt one chapter, kidnapped the next, poisoned the next it makes the mc seem like they have no control and are being dragged around by the narrative
